Hello, Rebeca here (although many know me as Bequi) and believe it or not this is the first time I participated in La Guerra Florida (Foro Rosa) ... something I meditated long before appearing here again, with yet "another" essay about Candy;
In January 2014, I had the impetus to scratch-out everything that I thought I knew about Candy Candy and start all over again; guided by history, culture and Japanese mythology I read the manga once more and suddenly a whole new amazing storyline appeared before my eyes (and also an arduous task), in these over two years I was also able to get involved (some more intensely than others) 5 native Japanese and 2 neo-native - on this path - to help me understand what lies beyond of what we normally see and understand about this story - without the contribution and valuable opinion of these 7 women this work would have been just a bunch of my own assumptions, it is for this reason that this essay is presented here today and forthcoming in Japan (in selected Candy forums).
I am also aware that my work is not for everyone;
1. First it is very extensive and intensive (it contains almost 60,000 words and over 700 images), reading requires time and a lot of concentration.
2. Second, because it will change the way we understand the story of Candy Candy forever and I know I am going to face much opposition and criticism.
3. And third because in doing so I am also aware that I will open a door (or perhaps, as naive Pandora - the box of evils) which has been closed for more than 30 years
I am also including here a small synopsis (excerpts from this work) that can be read in advance, but with the express condition that it will not raise any questions and that you would agree eventually to read the extensive analysis, as this one contains the answers to all the questions / doubts that the synopsis might generate.
